The
"Marie-Antoinette"
This
corset is inspired by the time when the court dresses were the more
blazing... Who didn't dream to resemble to the Marchioness of
Pompadour or to Marie-Antoinette?
Its
great difference with the later victorian corsets is its conical
form: it smoothly slims the whole trunk by a straight line from
armpits to waist, where it stops, instead of marking a curve and
going down on the hips. This very straight form makes a spectacular
push-up for the breast. It is a little less easy to wear than the
other styles because it is quite heavily boned; but what an
extraordinary look for a very special day or evening, where you will
attract all glances !
- All
the fabrics are of course possible, but this corset seems quite
naturally to call the most beautiful brocades which evoke the
eighteenth century. It would be also splendid in toile de Jouy:
a heavy cotton fabric created in French weaving shed at that
time. And what would be more amusing than playing marchioness in
a corset all decorated with gallant marchionesses and shepherds?
- Basic price :
375 US$ (see "Fabrics and trimings")
